Meet the Team: James Edwards, Service Manager

by Rapid Welding 17. April 2020 08:57

Meet the team: James Edwards, Service Manager

Rapid’s Service Manager, James Edwards, has been with Rapid most of his working life having started with us aged 17. Sixteen years later, James has worked his way up from Trainee Service Engineer to his current role as Service Manager. As well as his ‘hands on’ role in servicing, maintenance and validations, James is also responsible for ensuring the Service Department teams’ training is up to date and current.

James can be shy (he didn’t want his photo taken but we managed to persuade him into giving us a little action shot!). Also, a little known fact about James is his absolute fear of spiders! (After sixteen years with Rapid, James, you should know never to disclose things like that!) Surprised

James says, “although my job is pretty full on, I do enjoy the challenges our customers send to us. I work with a great bunch of people and we support each other, because that’s the ‘Rapid Way’”.

You can find out more about James and our Service Department by clicking here.

Meet the team: Sam Thomson - Account Assistant

Sam joined us early in 2019 when we increased our very busy Accounts Team.  With a background in travel sales and foreign exchange, Sam’s attention to detail was a brilliant fit for her new role.

“I’ve worked for Rapid for a little over a year now, which has really flown by. Everyone is friendly & incredibly helpful (which has been a godsend considering this was a complete change of career for me!). I have learnt & continue to learn so much. When I’m not at Rapid I enjoy socialising with friends, nice dinners out ( I looooove food!), curling up with a good book or box set & spending time with my 6 cats.”

Rapid Welding Announce Wessex Heartbeat as their Charity of the Year

by Rapid Welding 21. February 2020 17:36

Rapid Welding Announce Wessex Heartbeat as their Charity of the Year

Wessex Heartbeat has been chosen by Rapid Welding as its charity of the year. The charity provides support and care to patients being treated at the Wessex Cardiac Centre in Southampton.

Speaking of the charity choice, Marianne Edwards, Business Manager at Rapid said, "Cardiac care is of great importance to some of the Rapid Welding team and their families. This year we wanted to support a cardiac charity local to our business, therefore Wessex Heartbeat felt like the right choice."

We are encouraging the Rapid team to become involved in raising as much money as they can and we already have some ideas planned for this year to do just that!

This year our challenge will see 20 members of the team try to raise £20 for the charity - it will be interesting to see what ideas for fundraising they come up with!

Other fundraising plans include a raffle at Rapid's 30th birthday celebration BBQ in June, in addition to Marianne taking on the 'Action Challenge Isle of Wight Ultra' in May - a 106k ultra marathon.

You can find more information on Wessex Heartbeat and the fantastic work they do on their website here.

We look forward to the challenges that fundraising will bring to the team and updating you on our progress throughout the year.

by Rapid Welding 21. February 2020 17:15

Multi-currency payments have now been introduced on the Rapid Welding website.

With an ever-growing global customer base and over 35,000 products stocked online, we want to provide our customers with greater clarity on price and the facility to pay in their preferred currency.

This was an important move for Rapid now that the United Kingdom has entered post-Brexit status, and we hope this feature will enhance our customers' shopping experience with us.
